Before & After IV Sedation
What to expect before your appointment & during recovery
IV sedation is used to help patients feel deeply relaxed and comfortable during certain dental procedures. While you’ll remain responsive, most patients remember little to nothing about their treatment. Following these instructions before and after your appointment is essential for your safety and a smooth recovery.

Before Your IV Sedation Appointment
Preparation is essential
To ensure your safety during IV sedation, please follow these instructions carefully:
Do not eat or drink anything for 8 hours before your appointment (including water)
Take only medications approved by your dentist or surgeon
Wear loose, comfortable clothing
Avoid wearing makeup, nail polish, or jewellery
Arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you to the appointment and drive you home
IV sedation cannot be administered without a confirmed escort.
