Oral sedation is used to help patients feel relaxed and at ease during dental treatment. While its effects are milder than IV sedation, you may still feel drowsy or less alert afterward. These aftercare instructions are designed to help you recover safely and comfortably.

Immediately After Your Appointment
It’s normal to experience:
Drowsiness or fatigue
Mild grogginess
Reduced alertness or coordination
These effects typically wear off gradually over the course of the day.
Important Aftercare Guidelines
For the Rest of the Day
After oral sedation, please:
Do not drive or operate machinery
Avoid alcohol or other sedatives
Rest at home and limit activity
Avoid making important decisions
Follow all post-procedure instructions provided
Even if you feel alert, sedation effects can linger longer than expected.
Eating & Drinking After Oral Sedation
Begin with light foods and fluids
Avoid hot foods or drinks until numbness has fully worn off
Eat slowly and carefully
Your comfort and safety come first.
Oral Hygiene After Your Appointment to Bring
Resume gentle brushing and flossing unless otherwise instructed
Avoid disturbing any treated areas
Follow any additional care instructions specific to your procedure
